Khao Yai Day 1

SG > Bangkok > Khao Yai

We landed at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport in the morning and drove to Khao Yai directly with the non-speaking English driver. Due to the long weekend, the congestion was worse than expected.

Late lunch at The Birder’s Lodge Cafe, located just 5 minutes walk from the hotel we stayed. We need to wait for an hour for the food to serve as the cafe is a popular hot spot for both tourists and locals.

Primo Piazza, just round the corner, is another popular destination. The entrance fee is 200 Baht/person. A mini European theme garden with many photo-taking spots is best for selfie lovers. Many get excited by the Alpaca, at the mini-farm area, as the mammal itself is so adorable.

Went for the bats watching near Wat Tham Sila Thong. In the evening, millions of bats will leave the cave to hunt for their food. We watched an endless trail of bats flying just above us. It required at least 2hrs for all the bats to fly out of the cave. What an unforgettable sight.

As the surrounding is quite remote, we made our move before the sky gets darker. The next destination, of course, will be the dinner venue, Kua Kampan. A very nice and cozy restaurant with delicious food. We get our driver to dine together with us. Can you imagine we can only communicate through the use of the translation apps.? Thanks to technology.
