Khao Yai Day 2

Khao Yai National Park

Breakfast at the hotel and depart for Khao Yai National Park. We joined the full-day guided tour by Greenleaf at 1300Baht/person.

Meet the tour guide at the main entrance and hop onto the Songthaew. One highlight of the tour is walking into the forest to look out for animals. I’m very excited to spot an elephant.

Feel the morning dew as we drove through the forest. Surrounded by the coldness and animal calls was a great way to start the day. Joining us on tour was a group of young American women, whose work as an English teacher in Thailand.

Wearing leech socks is a must to protect ourselves from forest leeches. The guide provides us with socks. We spent the morning walking through the forest and encountered several animals, such as the Black Giant Squirrels, White-hand Gibbons family, and Indochinese Water-Dragon.

We had our lunch right in the middle of the forest. Sitting on the old tree log and enjoy our simple lunch together. What an unforgettable experience.

In the afternoon, we drove to one of the waterfalls to feel the droplets from the fall.

Continue driving around the National Park to get a sight of other animals. The guide received a call from her friend that they spotted an elephant. The driver drove to the spot as fast as possible. Very soon, we arrived at the scene, and the elephant is far down the forest. A very safe distance away from us. We are all very excited to see the elephant.

After some time, the elephant walked into the forest, and its time for us to end the tour.

We had our dinner at the Mid-Winter Green, an European styled restaurant occupying a big area. With live performance, outdoor seating is a suitable choice for us. The fusion food is delicious, though the price is a bit on the high side. Overall, the themed restaurant in Khao Yai price is all on the high side.

(We get a table number at the front counter, but no one brings us into the restaurant. With the ticket, we just walk-in and ask around to hunt for the table. LOL)
