Croatia Day 7 : Jezerce > Zadar

Jezerce > Paklenica National Park > Zadar

The wide variety of breakfast choices at the inn surprised me. They wanted to give visitors a good meal before the hike in the national park. After a healthy and delicious breakfast meal, we are on the road again.

Stunning views of deep gorges filled the Paklenica National Park. It is part of the southern Velebit mountain, the largest in Croatia.

As soon as we entered the park, it started drizzling. Not long after, it became a heavy rainstorm.

We waited for quite a while before starting the hike. The slippery route made the hike more strenuous. Being surrounded by the breathtaking canyon, make me feel how tiny I am on this planet. Make a detour at the Anica Kuk as it was too tedious for me to continue further. The walking stick came handy for this hike.

We had lunch at the traditional Taverna Konoba Marasovic, which looked like an abandoned place. The grilled octopuses were perfect and juicy.

Zadar is known for its Roman and Venetian ruins. It is also home to the famous Sea Organ, which catches our attention.

Walk around the old town for its ancient ruins. The unique circular shaped Church of St. Donatus and the elaborate city gate are some of the architectural highlights.

It started raining when we are at the waterfront. Looking for a dinner place is not easy as many restaurants have minimum indoor seating. After some hunt, we managed to get a sheltered table at Pizzeria Kompas.

The weather turned bad soon after we get seated. It was raining heavily, the water leaks through the shelters at the outdoor dining area. Rainwater was accumulating. Soon, diners started to leave one after another under the chaotic scene. What a joyful and unforgettable night for us.
