Split > Blagaj > Mostar
Our breakfast for the day was from the bakery located just steps away from the apartment.

The road trip to Mostar took about 2.5hours. Have the essential documents such as the passport and the car green card with you when crossing the border.

At the petrol kiosk, we purchased a pre-paid mobile card as the data passport did not include BiH. We used a debit card to make payment as we do not have any local currency.
Make a stopover at Blagaj to peek on the impressive Tekija with the surrounding cliff. Instead of entering the Turkish dervish, we took a stroll along the river to enjoy the view.

Mostar, located in Herzegovina region, is surrounded by mountains with the Neretva River crossing in the middle. Minarets of various mosques filled the skyline.

Take a closer look at some of the building, damaged from the war can still be seen.
Irma-Tima served juicy and tasty grilled meat. We had lunch at this popular restaurant located along the busy market street.
The iconic Old Bridge, Stari Most, is best viewed by the river bank. In 1993 during the war, the original bridge was destroyed. The bridge was rebuilt authentically and reopen in 2004.

As part of the traditional system, a diver will jump from the bridge, 23 meters down into the Neretva River every 2-3 hours. The actual diver will splash water onto himself before making the jump. Other divers will try to make fun with the ground and collect donations from them.
Crossed the old bridge and another colorful shopping street, the Coppersmiths Street awaited. One of the unique souvenirs were those made from bullet and shell casing.

We stepped into the pretty courtyard of the Koski Mehmet-Pasha Mosque. Visitors are required to wash at the fountain before entering the mosque. Explore the interior before climbing up the minaret for a rewarding view of Mostar.
Post-war traces still left behind the town. As we stood on the peaceful street, it is hard to imagine it was once a bloody scene.
We had dinner at Babilon. We ordered a plate of meat stew wrapped with various vegetables, simple and yet flavourful meal.

Colorful lighting filled the shopping street by night falls.
Overnight at Shangri La Mansion
Shangri La Mansion is an Austro Hungarian building located on the hilltop just opposite the old town. Have a skyline view of Mostar at the rooftop. The place is pretty cozy. Do drive carefully as the road to the mansion is narrow and steep.
