Sarajevo
We walked to Bascarsija, nicknamed ‘Pigeon Square’ since many pigeons found in the area. The street is almost empty, enjoyed the morning cold and peaceful while finding a place for breakfast.


The locals get water and drink from the Sebilj, the iconic fountain of Sarajevo. Caffe Bar Sebilj served traditional Turkish coffee. Coffee and freshly baked toast was my breakfast for the day.
Coppersmiths Street is where many locals craftsman sells their copper artwork. A street to hunt for some unique copper products.

Stepped into the Habsburg architecture City Hall and the colorful stained glass roof amazed every visitor.

In June 1914, Franz Ferdinand (heir to the throne of Habsburg Empire) and his wife, Sophie, were shot by Gavrilo Princip. Stood at the site where the assassination took place and eventually caused World War I.

Gazi Husrev-Bey Mosque is the most historic and important mosque in Sarajevo. At the spacious main hall, look out for the calligraphy on the ceiling.

Explore the Old Synagogue and Bosnian Jewish Museum. A tour to know more about the Jewish religion and how the Jews adopted the local culture.
The Sarajevo Rose is the scar left behind by a shell explosion during the siege. The locals filled it with red resin, resemble blood since each rose killed at least three people.

The eternal flame is a memorial to the victims of World War II.

Continue my walk towards the Marsala Tita street. Lunch at Manolo, a popular dining place among the locals.

Many bullets scared were left on the buildings around the Sniper Alley. During the siege, crossing the street impose much danger. The locals would only risk their life at night as chances of being shot was much lower.


Scroll along the river for the peaceful greenery. At one corner, children playing on the old military vehicles with happiness and laughter.

Be sure to explore the modern shopping mall, Sarajevo City Center.
Head back to the old town for the famous cevapcici (grilled minced meat sausage) at Zeljo2. A highly recommended dish when in Sarajevo.
