Tasmania, located south of the mainland, is Australia’s only state island. Known for the cleanest air in the world, you can also find abundant wildlife. Wallabies and pademelons are common everywhere. We are delighted to encounter the rare white wallabies on Bruny Island. The round fluffy wombats are adorable and are easily found all over Maria Island. Watching the little birds come ashore at the penguin rookery is another distinctive experience.
The spectacular coastline, rare geological formations, and roaring sea waves are unique to Tasmania. About 25% of the island is under the World Heritage Area, making it one of the largest conservation areas in Australia.
Another highlight of our trip is to witness the Aurora Australis, also known as the southern light, not once but twice. Our very first Aurora encounter.
The island is a perfect destination for nature lovers like us with its unspoiled ancient forest and wilderness.
