~ Mount Field National Park ~ Gordon Dam ~
After breakfast and bidding goodbye to the baby sheep, we move our stuff to the car and depart for Mount Field. The car wheels got stuck in the field due to the rain, and it took him a few attempts to get it going. Soon, it started to drizzle again.

Mount Field National Park is the oldest national park in Tasmania. It is famous for the 80-meter-high Russell Falls and the Tall Trees.
The first stop is, of course, the famous Russell Falls. The route to the waterfall is an easy walk with green fern trees along both sides of the walkway. The cascaded Russell Falls is indeed breathtaking. The downside was it started to rain, and we had to leave the platform fast.

Since it was still raining, we decided to drive to the summit. The misty, twists and turns road was an adventure drive. The landscape at the altitude of 1070m was different. It was flat with beautiful alpine plants. Explore a bit of the Moorland Mosaic and Lake Dobson. A relaxing and peaceful place to wind away all our troubles.

The Tall Trees walk was another easy walk in the national park. Standing in front of the massive trees, you will feel how tiny you are. The trees are hundreds of years old and are known to reach a height of over 100m. The green at the forest grounds was as beautiful.

We had our lunch at the Waterfalls Cafe and gallery located at the visitor center.

Continue our road trip to Strathgordon, the southwest side of Tasmania. Driving the winding road for almost an hour was super tiring.

Gordon Dam, the tallest dam in Tasmania, is 198m long and 140m high. The arch dam wall is another reason for its fame. Before reaching the dam, make a right turn on the road to the Knob Hill lookout. At the platform, you can view the dam from another angle.
At the dam, descending the stairs to the walkway is a must. It is a spectacular engineering structure.

Staying over at Pedder Wilderness Lodge was highly recommended as the drive to Gordon Dam can be tiring. The lodge is near Lake Pedder. The lodge restaurant offers a gorgeous view of the lake.
After dinner, we roam around the lodge for some night wildlife spotting.
