~ Strathgordon ~ Nelson Fall ~ Horsetail Fall ~ Strahan ~
Start the day with a walk by Lake Pedder was great. We had a filling and delicious breakfast at the restaurant before our long driving journey.
From Strathgordon to Strahan, the journey is about 330km and would take about five hours without stopping.

The long winding road trip for the day includes some lovely rest stops at :
- Bitumen Bones Sculpture
- Highest Point on Road
- Tarraleah Hydro Park Lookout
- Geographical Centre of Tasmania

Simple lunch (our cheapest lunch so far) at the Hungry Wombat Cafe and continue the journey on the Lyell Highway.

Nelson Falls is a highly recommended place, not only to stretch the legs after the long drive and also for its natural scenery. An easy walk on the boardwalk, passing through the beautiful mossy forest and along the burbling river.

The landscape changes dramatically before reaching Queenstown. The mining industry, from last century, resulted in acidic rain from sulfur pollution, killing all trees in that area.

Visit the Iron Blow Lookout to witness the massive mining ground.

The nearby Horsetail Fall Track is a 1km return on the boardwalk with some steep steps. The best view of the waterfall is at the midway of the route. At the viewing platform, you can witness the falls pouring out.

Another worth photo stop is at the Queenstown Steel Road Signage.

Continue the long winding journey to Strahan. We manage to reach the accommodation just before sunset.

Overnight at Risby Cove (The Jetty : Deluxe Waterfront Suite)
Risby Cove situated at the waterfront, offer a panoramic view of the harbor. Our suite was on the upper deck with a fantastic waterfront view.
