~ West Coast Wilderness Railway ~ Cradle Mountain ~ Devils@Cradle ~
This morning, the sun was out, and the view of the harbor was gorgeous.

Breakfast at Tracks on Point, a cafe at Regatta Point Station of the West Coast Wilderness Railway.

We were going to ride the West Coast Wilderness Railway on its River and Rainforest explorer, which starts and ends at Strahan station. The tour last about 4.5 hours and costs about AUD$189 per person for the Heritage carriage, lunch included. Due to a landslide at Dubbil Barril, the railway will end the tour at Lower Landing before returning. In this case, the price was reduced by halved.

Thanks to all the staff of WCWR for making the Turntable at the Strahan station. Because of the landslide, the locomotive was unable to make the turn at Dubbil Barril station.

The West Coast Wilderness Railway River and Rainforest tour operate with a diesel locomotive that brings us into the rainforest. Witness how close the train is to the trees while traveling. Ride across the historic Iron Bridge and continue along the King River to Teepookana. We had our delicious hot meals on board while traveling. Alight at the Lower Landing station for toilet break, photo taking, and get our legs stretched at the station surrounding.

Continue our road trip to Cradle Mountain which is about 2 hours drive away. To catch the first bus for the next day, we went to the visitor center to purchase the bus tickets.

The Devils@Cradle is a sanctuary dedicated to Tasmanian devils, the spotted tail quolls, and eastern quolls. The After Dark Feeding Tour allows visitors to witness the devils and their cousins’ behaviors. The guide also briefs us on the challenges both species encounter. The weather was freezing, do dress warm for the tour.

Dinner at Hellyers, we sat by the fireplace to get most of the heat. Another flavorful meal.
