Beauty Point > Cataract Gorge > Launceston City > Bicheno

After breakfast, we pack our stuff and hit the road again. Leaving Beauty Point to Bicheno and on the way, we will explore Launceston town.
The first stop is Bradys Lookout State Reserve. A short walk uphill to the platform overlooking Tamar River. A good place for a stopover with a scenic view.

Cataract Gorge is a natural formation between two cliffs and forms a basin where the Lower South Esk River flow. Walk across Alexandra Suspension Bridge and continue on the walking path by the cliff. A relaxing and calm morning stroll with the picturesque landscape. On the day of the visit, the chairlift is not operating as maintenance work is in progress.

Launceston is Tasmania’s second-largest city. Explore the city for its urban and heritage charms. Minder into the street for some unique shops.

We found a cafe, Mike’s Country Kitchen, in the alley with many locals. We decided to give it a try. Great lunch place.

Continue on the road for another 2 hours.

Bicheno is famous for its penguin colony. We joined the Bicheno Penguin Tours (AUD$66.50/pax) to witness the cute little bird come alive at night.
A short bus ride from the Bicheno office to the penguin rookery. A cold and windy night. The guide will show us around and explain the interesting facts about the penguins. As the little birds come ashore, everyone gets excited to see them. At their own pace, the penguins waited for each other and walked up the slope to the nest in groups. The tour duration lasted about an hour. It was a fantastic experience with a close encounter with the penguin.

Supper for the night as we had an early dinner. Get some warmth from the hot soup.

Overnight at Sandpiper Ocean Cottage (Ocean View Cottage)
