Italy – Northern

From architectural wonders and artistic masterpieces to the awe-inspiring mountain scenery and romantic canals, Northern Italy offers a journey filled with contrasts.

Milan is a city where modern sophistication meets rich history. Among its many architectural treasures, the magnificent Gothic Duomo di Milano is an absolute must-visit. Its intricate details, stunning facade and impressive architecture make it a masterpiece worth admiring up close. Head up to the rooftop, where you can wander among the ornate spires and sculptural details while appreciating the cathedral remarkable craftsmanship from a different perspective.

Another must-see is The Last Supper, Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic masterpiece. A true treasure for art lovers, this world-famous painting is well worth seeing in person. Remember to book your tickets well in advance, as availability is limited.

The main highlight of this trip is the Dolomites, a spectacular mountain range in the northeastern Italian Alps. With rolling alpine meadows, dramatic jagged peaks, picturesque valleys and breathtaking panoramic views, the scenery is simply mesmerising. Everywhere you look, endless mountains stretch across the horizon, attracting nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world.

Beyond admiring the scenery, we challenged ourselves to hike almost every day, tackling trails that took us uphill and downhill along uneven paths and at higher altitudes. It was physically demanding at times, but every climb brought us closer to incredible views and a rewarding sense of achievement.

One of the great advantages of exploring the Dolomites is its extensive cable car network, which makes it easier to reach higher elevations without having to hike all the way up. This allows visitors to enjoy spectacular mountain views and access scenic trails that might otherwise be more challenging to reach on foot.

To explore this vast mountain region more comfortably, we based ourselves in three different areas. Although these locations were relatively close to one another, splitting our stays helped reduce daily driving time and allowed us to spend more time enjoying the spectacular landscapes.

Our journey continued to Venice, Italy enchanting floating city, famous for its winding canals, graceful gondolas and timeless romantic atmosphere. A visit to St Mark Basilica in the magnificent St Mark Square is a must, offering a glimpse into the city rich history and architectural splendour. Another gem is the Doge Palace, where magnificent artworks, grand halls and intricate architectural details reveal the artistic and historical treasures of Venice.

The real charm of Venice lies in wandering through its narrow lanes, crossing little bridges and getting lost among its hidden corners. Along the way, you will discover unique glass creations, beautiful works of art and charming little shops. On a sunny day, nothing beats slowing down with a scoop of gelato while soaking in the city magical atmosphere.
